So for some crazy reason I slept until noon today. I haven't done that in years! I don't understand why, and I don't like it. I feel like my entire day has been wasted in bed. It's one now and all I've done is make a couple phone calls, and I'm still on my first cup of coffee. I feel like a lazy bum. That put me in a little bit of a bad mood today when I saw the clock said noon. The other thing that threw me over the edge was the phone calls I made.
In 2007 I got two credit cards...They were maxed out in no time...NOT all my fault, I paid bills Julian bought stupid shit! Well the bills came for them and I couldn't keep up with the payments, because again, they were maxed out and Julian wouldn't help me. Even though he spent majority of the money. So now here I am getting harassed by these companies telling me I need to pay or I'll be sued.
I called them in the beginning of the month and told them I haven't started work yet, but once I do I'll pay $50 a month if not more. They agreed and said it would be due on the 25th of every month, I told them I couldn't do it this month because I haven't even started work yet. They agreed again and said it would start May 25th. Now this is 2 different companies, keep that in mind. I got letters from both companies, one saying I owed $50 by April 25th, the other saying I owed $100 by April 30th.
I called and told them I did not agree to that, and I could not pay that right now, they both said it was what we agreed one. I flipped out and told them that since they record every conversation they need to go back and listen to what i said in the beginning of the month. They both swore up and down that I had agreed to pay this month.
The first company made me pay $50 today, otherwise they would move ahead with the law suit...The second company argued with me on the amount I said I would pay and finally lowered it to $50, because I definetly did not say $100. So he lowered it but I still have to pay by Friday otherwise he will unfreeze my account and I'll start getting 18.8% interest again. WTF!!!!!!
So as you can see this day has started out completely messed up!!! And needless to say, I am extremely cranky now. I have only been awake for an hour and everything has gone wrong. If this day doesn't get better I might just go crawl back into bed and sleep the rest of this dreadful day away.
Side note: I watched Avatar last night, all the way trough, and it was amazing!! It's a must see for sure!!!! Then of course I watched my shows. I'll be so sad when they are over for the season, which is coming up very soon. :(
Anyway, I'll stop whining and complaining and bitching...for now. You don't read my blogs to hear about all of that, so I'll leave you with this last thought.
DO NOT ever get a credit card, and if you do, DO NOT trust your spouse with it!!!!

I completely agree with you about not EVER getting a credit card. I'm going to gloat for one minute or less. I've never had a credit card. I've never financed anything. The only loan I have ever taken out is a school loan! Go me!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, next have you heard of Dave Ramsey. He's really good at helping people handle their money better. He has scenarios... if you're in this hole this is what you do.
The credit card people calling you... well Ramsey has a scenario for that too.
He said that you tell them this:
That you have to pay for these things first. House, water, electricity, and food. Then if there is any money left then the debt collectors are portioned out and payed for. That if all you have is $20 and two credit cards to pay then one of them gets $10 and the other gets $10. Then when you have more money you pay more on it.
Because obviously this wouldn't work forever because they would start watching and things like that.
I went through Dave Ramsey's 13 week course and it has helped. I've never used a debit card, but my Lover did and he would always go under. Then we'd have to pay that $20 fee for using money that wasn't in our account. When we went through the course Ramsey suggested to not use a debit card and use cash. So my Lover and I switched over to just cash. It has helped us tremendously. You really don't realize how much money you give to the bank for going under.
Sorry for the spill... I love the topic of handling money better.
